The manga is complete; the box set is still a preorder

Tsuyoshi Takaki's manga is complete in five volumes. VIZ labels volume 5 the final volume, and its July 8, 2026 reading guide points readers to chapters 1–19. You can choose this as a finite manga collection without waiting for the television adaptation to finish.

The complete English box set is scheduled for September 22, 2026 and remains a preorder on VIZ as of September 7. It contains volumes 1–5 and a double-sided color poster. The individual books already exist in print and digital formats; the forthcoming box is a packaging option for the complete run, not a new volume 6.

Bushiroad's official release notice gives a July 4, 2026 Japanese start. VIZ lists the first season as 12 episodes with a TV-14 rating and directs readers to Crunchyroll. A season's listed episode count does not mean every episode is already available in your region. Check the actual episode list and the audio version you want before making a viewing plan.

Who is this series for?

• The publisher's premise connects a young shinobi who can talk to animals with Rago, a supernatural cat. Use that unusual partnership as your first filter if you enjoy supernatural action with a strong central duo.
• VIZ categorizes it as action-adventure, drama and supernatural. The premise involves a hidden conflict with mononoke, so a reader seeking an ordinary animal-care story should inspect the sample before choosing it.
• A five-volume commitment can make the series easier to budget for than an open-ended collection. It does not tell you how satisfying you will find the ending; that judgment belongs to your reading experience.
• VIZ rates the manga Teen Plus and the anime TV-14. Those are different product labels, not equivalent promises about individual scenes. A caregiver should check the intended version's preview and local content information.

Sample first, then choose singles, digital or the complete box

Begin with the official volume 1 preview or chapter 1 through a licensed service that works in your country. If the premise does not suit you, stopping after the sample avoids an unnecessary five-book purchase. The complete run is short enough that restarting from the opening remains an option for anime viewers.
